Well.. quite a lot actually.
Those who have followed our developments directly on the site(s) (www.petdirekt.se and www.soschats.fr - www.soschiens.fr) have seen a couple of links being added since the beginning of the year. Time to make a summary of all that.

First we have much improved the “lost pet” function. The user is now invited to map the found pet directly on the map and register the details afterwards. More acurate and less time consuming. On the lost pets button on the top menu, the user can also access a list of the lastest lost and found pets with an interactive map showing the exact position of the pet when it was lost (for lost pets), and of the found pet (for the found ones)

As far as the content is concerned we are trying to find a way to make best use of the zillion of articles and videos for pet care, pet health etc..that are available out there on the web. One example of our development can be found on the pet articles where we illustrate articles with videos from youtube.
We also have an on going development with videos from youtube. The ambition being to have an encyclopedia for pet owners. The concept is simple, we structure the petcontent in two levels (probably three levels soon) The first level is the category (care, health, fun, training) the second level is a more detailed description of the content available (teeth, ear, fur) for CARE, (fetch, sit, come, toilet) for TRAINING etc…
Once the first and the second level are selected, 4 lists of video resources are available
The first one is a handpicked selection of videos
The second one shows a video originating from selected sources
The third one shows video recommended by users (if you feel like reconmending a video just past the youtube URL for the video you would like to recommend for the selected category)
The final one is a rough selection with specific criteria
Try it out, it’s quite fun!

we have also improved the search functionality for pets. Nopw you can search for a cat or a dog directly from the top of the page. That was a minor add on but much expected, people were wondering what this empty field meant.

Här kommer information om det som vi jobbar på just nu. Fick ett mail från familjen Stenevang som undrade över kompisar på PetDirekt. Vad gör man med dem ? Varför går det inte att bekräfta?
Varför går “skicka mus” och “beställa” kanpparna på varandra för visa kattprofiler?

VI måste erkänna några buggar i detta område, men i stället för att fixa dem på den befintliga design, har vi bestämt att göra om kattens profil så att allt kommer att vara tydligare

Steg 1
Nya profilen kommer att installeras under denna vecka. Vi ber redan nu om förlåtelse för små justeringar som vi kommer säkert att behöva göra. Tveka inte att skicka ett mail till info@petdirekt.se om ni hittar något fel. Vi verkligen gillar det och försöker ta hänsyn till alla kommentarer, goda som dåliga.

Det som är nytt, förutom en liten ommöblering är

1.Familjen
Finns det mer än en katt hos dig då skall alla i familjen synas på sajten i form av en liten bild.

2. Kompisar
Samma sak för kompisarna, en liten bild kommer att presentera alla kompisar

3. Dem som gillar mig
Listan på alla som har skickat en mus till katten if form av en så kallad “tag cloud” Storleken på namnet beror på antalet mus katten har.

Steg 2
Vi har inte förstått hur ni egentligen gör för att skicka mus till andra… Någon sök motorn finns inte på PetDirekt! (ännu) Om någon vill kommentera om detta….
Anyway… vi har tänkt att man vill gärna träffa andra katter som vi i närheten, som man har träffat på gatan eller som har någom form av koppling till sig (min kusin som bor i Gävle…)

Så vår nästa utveckling har att göra med att hitta möjliga kompisar eller “mus givare” : Från kattensprofil kommer en ny knapp “utöka min nätverk” eller “New community” Någon bra namn söker vi förresten..klickar man på det kommer 3 olika sätt att träffa nya katter

1.Katter i mitt område
Vi tittar på ditt postnummer och tar fram bilder på alla katter som finns i samma område
Du kan också välja ett nytt postnummer och söka efter det

2. Katter med samma namn
Vi listar katter med samma namn
Du kan också välja ett nytt namn och söka efter det

3. Katter med samma ras
Vi listar katter med samma ras
Du kan också välja en ny ras och söka efter det

Så där. Kommentarer är välkomna nästa gång berättar vi om de 4 andra stora utveckling område på gång (Prioriteringen och antalet utveckligsposter kan komma att ändras beroende på era feedback förstås)

P.S. Vill tacka damen som föreslog en MMS lösning för dem som vill ladda upp enkelt och galant bilden på en katt på sin sida. Det är en av våra 4 utveckling punkter. Det är nu bara en prioriteringsfråga…

Här kommer en uppdatering om vår ny satsning: “PetDirekt gäller hela livet”.

Anledningen för att vi inte har ännu uppdaterat sajten är att många sidor är påverkade av detta, abonnemangssystemet, användningsvillkor etc…. Det håller vi på med att göra och det kommer att ta ytterligare ett par veckor. Vi släppte infromation via bloggen så att kunderna som undrar över deras förnyelse får veta om beslutet i förtid.

Vi ibland använder engelska språket i vår kommunikation för att Promotheo och PetDirekt finns faktist också i andra länder (i Frankrike under namnet SOSChiens och SOSChats och i England) Sajten PetDirekt kommer att fortsätta på svenska men vissa inlägg i petdirekt bloggar kan vara på engelska. Vi har tyvärr ingen översättning till Wroldpress bloggar version mju som vi använder. Detta innebär att alla funktioner som ni kommer att använda för att administrera bloggen kommer att vara på engelska.

VI kommer inte att höja priset för PetDirekt. Det innebär

Your pet is missing and you want to get some help ? here is what you have to do:

1. Make sure you have an account at PetDirekt or create one
The first thing you need to have an account at PetDirekt. You don’t have? Create one! it’s free. Make sure your e-mail / telephone information are correctly updated as we will use them to create to Missing Poster.

2. Upload a recent picture of your missing pet
Select a picture which is recent enough so that it will be easy to recognize your pet.

3. WHen this is done, you can notice that some functionalities are available to you on the menu “Jag vill”. Klick on the oprion “Ha hjälp, Min katt sprang bort!”.

As you klick on this option, you get a system warning “Obs: du håller på med att…”. Setting the status of your pet as missing triggers quite a lot of processes and we want to underline that this is not something that should be done lightly

4. If you confirm that your pet is missing, a new page opens to you similar to the one underneath. You are invited to give further information about your cat like when he ran away, where it was etc..

5. Select which information you want to appear on the missing posters, and print if you wan to get posters.

6. You can submit a help mail to all the members in your area. Click on Send if you are pleased with the information provided

7. Here you get a list of the pet shelters in your area. It can be a good idea to call them and check if they have newly got a cat that may resemble yours.
